Nimgil, Yap - On Sunday, February 18th, 2024, a fire gradually spread and destroyed a vast portion of land near the intersection of Tafnith and Luwech. The blaze ravaged trees and vegetation, reaching close to the Yap Catholic High School. Local authorities are in the process of investigating the cause of the incident.
As the El Nino season progresses, the general public must remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to mitigate the risk of similar or other related incidents. If you spot any wildfire or unattended fire, please promptly contact local authorities by dialing 911.
