Monday, August 19, 2024//DYCA PIO

Yap, FSM – The highly anticipated Waab Taguw Day, also known as World Tuna Day, is just around the corner! Co-hosted by the Department of Resources & Development (R&D) and the Department of Youth & Civic Affairs (DYCA), this year’s celebration will feature a vibrant array of youth and community activities on August 31st and September 1st, taking place in the Living History Museum and the Pine Club.

Among the highlights of this year’s festivities is a cooking competition scheduled for September 1st. Organized by the DYCA Youth Division, Public Information Officer, and the Department of Resource Agriculture Division, the competition invites the public to showcase their culinary skills. Teams of two will have one hour to prepare a main dish featuring tuna, using any cooking style they prefer. Entries will be judged based on presentation, taste, and creativity.

Participants will be provided with essential ingredients, including butane gas, salt, soy sauce, garlic salt, coconut milk, and black pepper. Teams are expected to bring their own cooking utensils, additional ingredients, and seasonings.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, with participation prizes for all entrants. In order to join, participants must register by contacting DYCA. Sign up by calling DYCA at 350-2168.

(If you are interested and need more details, please contact DYCA at 350-2168 or R&D  at 350-2182.)
