Consultation with Asian Development Bank Executive Director Rachel Thompson on Development Challenges in Yap

Yap, FSM –Director Rachel Thompson of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be visiting Yap State to consult with government officials and NGO representatives. This visit, scheduled from August 3 to August 6, 2024, aims to gain a better understanding of the development challenges faced by Yap. These consultations are crucial for Yap’s development planning and efforts, especially those involving the support of ADB.


In preparation for Director Thompson’s visit, Governor Charles S. Chieng has called for a meeting among Yap's officials. This meeting took place today, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Legislative Chamber, generously provided by the Honorable Speaker Nicholas Figirlaarwon. The purpose of this preparatory meeting is to align and strategize Yap's presentation to Director Thompson to ensure a united front. Governor Chieng emphasizes the importance of full participation in this meeting to maximize the benefits of the consultation with ADB.


The involvement of government officials, NGO representatives, and other stakeholders is essential in addressing the development challenges of Yap effectively.
