Yap, FSM – Department of Health Services, Department of Education, and Department of
Public Works and Transportation are collaborating to transport and install 30 water tanks in the
neighboring islands to enhance water security for schools and local communities.
These water tanks will be properly installed and constructed, through the generous contribution and
assistance by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as our implementing partner,
with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The distribution of these 30 water tanks was based on the requests from Early Childhood
Education, Elementary Schools, and high schools on each island are as follows: one each for
Fadrai, Asor, Seliap, Ifalik, Faraulap, and Piig; two each for Mogmog, Euripik, Falalus,
Lamotrek, and Satawal; four for Fais; and five each for Falalop Ulithi and Falalop Woleai.
As of now, 27 of the tanks have already been shipped out, while 3 remain on the mainland,
awaiting shipment on the next available vessel to the outer islands.
