Yap, FSM – On Sunday, September 9, 2024, Heinrick Panuelo, the Director of the Office of Veterans Affairs (OVA) from the National Government, arrived in Yap State to engage with local leadership and veterans. The visit aimed to strengthen support for veterans in the region and explore the establishment of a dedicated office for veteran services.
During his visit, Director Panuelo met with the Honorable Governor Chieng, to discuss the possibility of opening a local office for a Veterans Specialist. This initiative is currently under consideration, and both leaders expressed optimism about enhancing veterans' access to essential services.
In addition to meeting with the governor, Director Panuelo engaged in meaningful discussions with veterans about various pressing topics, including the amended compact, the organizational structure of the Veterans Affairs, and upcoming changes to the OVA budget. He also highlighted the importance of Micare services, which provide vital health and wellness support for veterans.
The Office of Veterans Affairs remains committed to fostering collaboration and ensuring that veterans in Yap receive the comprehensive support they deserve.
