Colonia, Yap – “If there is a will, there should be a way,” expressed Yap State Governor Charles Chieng regarding efforts to improve Yap State.
Last week, July 8, 2024, the Federated States of Micronesia National Tourism Project Manager Bermance Aldis, Finance Officer Gorang Albert, Project Coordinator Makelesi Muloilagi, and Communication Officer Diana Shigeta paid a courtesy call with Yap State Honorable Governor Chieng and his esteemed cabinet members. Cabinet members present consist of Department of Education(DOE) Director Dominic Fanasog, Department of Health Services(DHS) Director Theophilus Thinnifel, Department of Resources and Development(R&D) Acting-Director Chief Bernard Gorong, Department of Public Works and Transportation(DPW&T) Director Joe Giltug, Department of Youth and Civic Affairs(DYCA) proxy PIO Jovanna Nabetam, and Office of Administration(OAS) Chief of Supply and Procurement Patricia Ruecho’, alongside Yap State Yap Visitor Bureau(YVB) representatives Susan Gooliyan and Ishwar Persad. The meeting had discussions on ongoing and proposed projects, the upcoming Micronesian Expo in Chuuk updates to tourism policy, and additional airline services to enhance transportation, demonstrating a concerted effort to boost local infrastructure, tourism, and economic growth.
