Yap, FSM – Hollywood producer Mr. John Duffy arrived in the State of Yap on Wednesday morning, February 28th, 2024, via UA. The primary purpose of his visit to the State of Yap is to share knowledge and provide assistance to an old friend, former actor, production manager, and the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs(DYCA) Director Alex Gilfiley, and his team in upcoming projects.
Upon arrival, Mr. Duffy paid a courtesy call to Governor Chieng, at the Yap State Legislature(YSL), whereas Lt. Governor Itimai, Director Gilfiley of DYCA, Chief Marbey of the Historic Preservation Office in DYCA, Speaker Figirlaarwon, Vice-Speaker Rutun, Senator Mafel, Attorney General Gallen, and Chief of Staff Ayin were present as well. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Mr. Duffy’s visit to the State of Yap, aimed at sharing knowledge and assisting DYCA Director Alex Gilfiley, and his team with the impending film project centered on Yap’s navigation practices, history, and significant landmarks on the island of Yap.
Continuing his visit, Mr. Duffy joins in the 54th Yap Day celebration in Makiy, Gagil, continues sightseeing significant landmarks, and immerses himself in the culture, traditions, and history of the State of Yap.
