The communities of Okaw and Kaday convened on February 17, 2024, for a briefing led by their appointed core group overseeing the Nimpal Marine Conservation Area (MCA). Nimpal MCA, a community-led initiative, dedicated to marine conservation, fishery management, and environmental protection in the Okaw/Kaday area, provided updates on ongoing activities and future plans for the conservation area.
The meeting also featured a presentation by Chief Anthony Yolon from the Division of Marine Resources at the Department of Resources and Development, highlighting his work and other collaboration between his office and the Nimpal MCA.
Traditional leaders from both communities expressed gratitude for the core group's hard work and acknowledged the positive impacts that are seen in both communities. They urged continued unity and support, emphasizing the evident benefits of the project to both communities.
