The Yap Cancer Program hosts Free Cervical Cancer Screening Saturday, July 13, 2024/// DYCA PIO

Colonia, Yap— The Yap State Cancer Program organized a comprehensive cervical cancer screening event on Saturday, July 13, 2024. This vital public health initiative took place at the Yap State Hospital, specifically in the Outpatient Department (OPD) left wing. The event commenced promptly at 10:00 AM and continued until 4:00 PM, offering ample opportunity for women to participate throughout the day.


The screening was generously provided free of charge and was available to all women within the target age range of 25 to 60 years. This initiative aimed to promote early detection and prevention of cervical cancer, which is crucial for effective treatment and improved survival rates.


To further encourage participation and raise awareness, the first 30 women who arrived for their screening were gifted complimentary t-shirts. This gesture was designed to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, fostering community involvement and emphasizing the importance of regular health check-ups.


Overall, the event was a significant step towards enhancing women's health in the community, providing essential services, and fostering a proactive approach to cancer prevention.
