Colonia, Yap - The Department of Resources and Development (R&D), in collaboration with the Division of Trade and Investment at the FSM Department of R&D, conducted a 2-day workshop last week, April 8th to April 9th, aimed at gathering inputs on the FSM trade policy review implementation plan. The workshop included consultative meetings with the Yap State Government, the private sector, non-governmental agencies, civil society organizations, the State Trade Facilitation Committee, and all other relevant stakeholders.
The first day of the workshop at the Small Business Development Center(SBDC) from 9 am to 3 pm discussed the economic environment, trade trends and investments, creating an enabling environment for private sector-led growth, trade policy measures, and sectors-specific policies in -tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and manufacturing. On the second day at the Yap Cap conference room on the second floor from 9 am to 2 pm focused on emerging and cross-cutting issues, the institutional framework, and state government recommendations.
Throughout the workshop, there were group presentations and discussions aimed at sharing insights, facilitating learning, and encouraging knowledge exchange among attendees. The workshop aimed to assist the Yap committee in identifying the areas for alignment with FSM National policies and developing new strategies in trade and regulation.
