Yap, FSM – As of Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, according to Guam National Weather Service reports a Tropical Upper Tropospheric Trough (TUTT) near Yap is causing spotty to scattered showers today. Light and variable winds will support island-effect showers and thunderstorms in the afternoons through Wednesday. Combined seas will range from 1 to 3 feet. A trough moving from Chuuk toward Yap and Palau later in the week may also bring additional showers and thunderstorms. Additionally, extreme drought persists across Yap State in the FSM. The overall weather pattern continues to favor dry conditions for Yap State. Near-normal rainfall is likely for Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, and the RMI. The next NWS Guam Drought Information Statement will be issued on Friday, June 7.
