Tuesday, October 1, 2024//DYCA Media

Yap, FSM –  For Epiweek 38, from September 19, 2024 to September 22, 2024, there was a case of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) reported by the Ward, which was then Diagnosed as Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a common lung disease causing restricted airflow and breathing problems. It is sometimes called emphysema or chronic bronchitis. In people with COPD, the lungs can get damaged or clogged with phlegm.

Ifalik had reported 1 case of Acute Fever and Rash (AFR), it is suspected to be a Chicken Pox case.

The number of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) reported during Epiweek 38 has decreased. There were only six cases of ILI reported during Epiweek 38.

For Diarrheal cases, only 2 were reported.

There were 3 reported cases of suspected Dengue-like Illness (DLI).

The Yap Lab had reported 2 positive cases for Chlamydia and 1 positive case for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). MRSA is a "staph" germ (bacteria) that does not get better with the type of antibiotics that usually cure staph infections. When this occurs, the germ is said to be resistant to certain antibiotics.

The Lab had also reported 2 positive cases for Trichomonas vaginalis and 1 positive case for Enteropathogenic E. Coli.

For Epiweek 38, there were no reported cases of Prolonged Fever and Unusual Events.
