Pohnpei, FSM – The National Department of Education(NDOE) recently organized the Occupation Selection Workshop with the purpose of identifying seven key vocational occupations across all four states. The workshop took place at the Tuna Commission Conference Room in Kolonia, Pohnpei, from June 24th to June 28th, 2024.
Representatives from Yap included Bernard Gorong, Acting Director and Chief of the Division of Workforce from the Department of R&D, and Daphne J. Lasudep, Scholarship Coordinator. The Department of Education's delegation featured Yap High School Vice Principal Raymond Hasugulibug, Vocational Teacher Gabriella Falaninug, DOE CTE Coordinator Camilo Jr. Nuestro, and Assistant CTE Coordinator Jim Hachigeresh. Private sector representatives Domingo Techur and Kimberly Fanasog also participated.
The workshop aimed to enhance vocational education by pinpointing essential occupations needed in the region. Further details and outcomes from the workshop will be shared soon.
