The workshop began with registration, followed by a prayer and a Kamorale, a motivational opening speech welcoming participants from all four states. The introduction segment set the stage for the day's activities, which included the Yap State Visit Presentation and a group exercise focused on Yap Tourism. The exercise involved a discussion on what attracts tourists to Yap, identifying current tourism options, and brainstorming potential tourism opportunities to boost Yap’s tourism capacity, economy, and GDP.
Participants then engaged in the second exercise, "Triangle of the Future," which explored visions of a preferred future, the weight of the past, and present dynamics. Discussions also covered the FSM Government ARPA Project, aiming to update the FSM tourism policy and state investment plans by 2025, develop a marketing and branding strategy, create a signature event, and conduct workforce training and capacity building. Additional topics included environmental beautification and plastic repurposing training, as well as purchasing marketing tools and equipment by 2025.
Upcoming events highlighted during the workshop included the 2024 3rd Micronesian Expo in Weno, Chuuk, themed "Navigating Our Islands' Oceans for Present & Resilience," and the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, focusing on contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
