Yap State Department of Health Services Weekly Communicable Disease Report: Week 37 Update

Yap, FSM – According to the Yap State Department of Health Services Communicable Disease report for Epiweek 37, from September 9th to September 15th, a total of 612 patients were recorded. The laboratory report for this period also indicates a total of 234 tests conducted for various diseases and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), namely syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV/AIDS, and trichomonas vaginalis. These reports provide key updates on various illnesses monitored across the state.


  • Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI): One case of SARI has been reported by the hospital, placing the condition in Alert status for this week.

  • Influenza-like Illness (ILI): The number of ILI cases has decreased to 9, remaining below the threshold for concern.

  • Dengue-like Illness (DLI): Three cases of DLI were reported by the hospital; however, all tested negative for both Dengue and Leptospirosis.

  • Diarrheal Cases: Two cases of diarrhea have been reported this week by the Woleai Health Center in the Outer Islands.

  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): The laboratory confirmed 7 cases of Chlamydia and 1 co-infection of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea was confirmed.
