Weloy, Yap – In recognition of September as National Recovery Month, Yap State Memorial Hospital is excited to announce a series of community-focused activities aimed at promoting health awareness, prevention, and recovery. This month-long initiative will engage the community through free health screenings, a walk-a-thon, and a visual display of support.
Free Health Screenings: September 26-27, 2024Yap State Memorial Hospital invites all community members to take advantage of free health screenings on September 26 and 27 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The medical team will provide screenings for a range of health indicators including:
- Blood pressure - Weight, height, and BMI - HIV/STI testing - H&H -RBS - Cancer screenings - Tuberculosis (TB) and Hepatitis D (HD) testing - Family planning consultation - Alcohol and depression screening - T-DAP and flu vaccinations
These services are vital for early detection and prevention, and everyone is encouraged to go and take charge of their health.
Community Walk-a-Thon: September 28, 2024
On September 28, join in for a fun and energizing walk-a-thon starting from the hospital parking lot to the Yap Living History Museum. This event aims to promote physical fitness and a sense of community spirit. Participants of all ages are welcome to join in this healthy activity and support one another on the journey of recovery and wellness.
Wear Purple Day: September 30, 2024
As a symbol of support for recovery, the community members are invited to wear purple on September 30. By wearing purple, you show solidarity with those in recovery and raise awareness for the importance of mental health and addiction recovery in our community.
Everyone is welcome to participate in these activities throughout September to learn more about health resources available to them and to strengthen our community's commitment to wellness and recovery.
