The Yap Weather Service Office and NOAA would like to inform the general public of the drought conditions caused by El Nino. Due to the dry conditions and shortage of water causes a higher risk for disease outbreaks, such as diarrhea and/or cholera. Therefore to manage the water resources, it is necessary to take action to conserve water. For instance reduce water use, ensure water tanks and/or pipes do not leak, water catchments are clean, and be mindful of wildfire risks.
