Yap, FSM — This week, a team of ten international specialist doctors from Singapore arrived in Yap State early Wednesday morning and will be departing early Sunday morning. The purpose of their visit is to assess the capabilities of doctors at the Department of Health Services (DHS) in utilizing specialized equipment, such as the hemodialysis equipment, which is used to test the blood for patients with kidney failure. The team will also analyze the DHS facilities to determine the best locations for the equipment, evaluate costs, and assist with training.
On Thursday, July 25th, the team visited all dispensaries around the island, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the local healthcare infrastructure. They also paid a courtesy call to the Yap State Legislature (YSL) at 1 PM for an oversight meeting. Today, the team will be attending a reception at Pine Club Restaurant, hosted by the Governor's Office, to conclude their visit. This initiative aims to enhance medical services and support the healthcare professionals in Yap State. More details to follow.
