Colonia, Yap—On March 30, 2025, the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs held the first-ever Micronesian Culture and Traditions Day at the Yap Living History Museum at 2:00 PM. This special event celebrated the unique traditions and cultures of the Micronesian islands. It was organized to honor and reflect on the customs, traditions, and stories that showcase Micronesia’s cultural uniqueness.

At the same time, the Yap Visitors Bureau hosted its monthly Island Market, which takes place on the last Friday of every month. This market featured four vendors selling local food and beautiful handmade crafts. The market is a great way for local artisans and food vendors to share their work with the community and visitors.

These events brought people together to celebrate, support local businesses, and appreciate the culture and traditions that make Yap and the Micronesian islands beautiful and unique. The Micronesian Culture and Traditions Day was a milestone for Yap, marking the beginning of what could become an annual traditional event.
