Dinay, Rull– Today, May, 20th, the Election Office at the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs(DYCA), led by Election Commissioner Christopher Buchun and Election Analysist Jovita Yinmed, alongside DYCA Director Alex Gilfiley and Chief of Youth Division John Waayan Fillmed, held an Election Board Member(EBM) meeting at Early Childhood Education(ECE) conference room at 12 pm. The meeting focused on ensuring the readiness for the upcoming election on May 31st. Discussion included the preparation of all necessary documents and forms, with EBM’s tasked to verify the accuracy of received forms. Topics covered the absentee, changes of polling places, and registration form deadlines. Additionally, the deadline for confinement forms, for homebound individuals, is set for this Friday, May 24th,2024.
The meeting also addressed the roles and limitations of the Election Board Members, emphasizing responsibilities such as guiding voters and explaining the ballot. Preparation tasks for the election, such as providing additional last-minute logistical needs at each polling place, were also discussed, along with strategies to address past problems. It was noted that police presence will be ensured at each polling place, furthermore, the next EBM meeting is scheduled before the election day on May 31st, 2024.
