Yap, FM - A new series of GEF6-funded projects aims to improve biosecurity and protect ecosystems in the Pacific region. The first project focuses on strengthening national biosecurity frameworks, ensuring they are sustainable, well-financed, and aligned with regional initiatives.
The second project aims to increase awareness and build capacity to protect agriculture, fisheries, and natural ecosystems from the harmful effects of invasive species.
The third project will improve biosecurity protocols at ports to prevent the spread of invasive species. The final project will enhance access to digital tools and knowledge to better manage invasive species data at national and regional levels.
These initiatives, with a total funding of over US$12 million, will help safeguard the region's environment and economies.
