Legislative Highlights: Yap State Legislature's Dynamic Session Another Recap // Wednesday, May 15, 2024 // DYCA PIO

Colonia, Yap – On Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, the 11th Legislature of the State of Yap convened its 13th regular session at 10 am in the Legislature Chamber. Key attendees included Speaker Nicholas Figirlaarwon, Vice Speaker Theodore Rutun, Floor Leader Terrance Fong, Senator Victor Bamog, Senator Ann-Marie Laamar, Senator Liyon Sulog, Senator Gabriel Ramoloilug, Senator Pius Talimeisei, Senator John Masiwemai, Chief Clerk Dee Libian, and Legislative Counsel Genevieve Mangefel. The session focused on the approval of three bills, including the following:


  • Bill No. 11-75, D1: For Second Reading, A BILL FOR AN ACT, To appropriate the sum of $27,443 from the General Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of providing funding to fund State Visit to the Neighboring Islands, and for other purposes.


  • Bill No. 11-73, D1:  For Second Reading, A BILL FOR AN ACT, To appropriate the sum of $77,618 from the Infrastructure Maintenance Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of providing funding for the repair and reconstruction of the Magaf Paved Road Culvert during Fiscal Year 2024, and for other purposes.


  • Bill No. 11-77: For Second Reading, A BILL FOR AN ACT, To further amend Yap State Law No. 11-20 by amending the Title and Section 1 for the purpose of appropriating the additional sum of $278,379 from the General Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of providing further funding to fund the Yap State Fiscal Year 2024 annual budget under local revenues for government operations, programs and projects, and for other purposes.


This session concluded with 9 senators in favor and 1 senator excused for passing the bills.
