Colonia, Yap – Last week, the 11th Legislature of the State of Yap convened its 16th regular session at 10 am in the Legislature Chamber. Key attendees included the Speaker Nicholas Figirlaarwon, Floor Leader Terrance Fong, Senator Gabriel Ramoloilug, Senator Victor Bamog, Senator Ann-Marie Laamar, Senator John Masiwemai, and Chief Litigator Jesse Raglmar. Additionally, the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs(DYCA) consists of Director Alex Gilfiley, Election Commissioner Christopher Buchun, Historic Preservation Office Chief Jeffery Marbey, Chief of Youth John Waayan Fillmed, Chief of Media Eijan Ruwetmag, Youth Awareness Officer Ursula Luchuu, Election Analyst Jovita Torwan, and PIO Jovanna Nabetam. Discussions focused on the progress of the upcoming election and addressed previous issues, such as logistical challenges and voter registration errors, ensuring that the Yap State Election Office has implemented measures to prevent these problems from reoccurring. During this meeting, concerns from both the local and overseas community were highlighted, including the need for better accessibility to voting information and improved transparency in the election process.
