This week, the Committee on Finance of the Eleventh Legislature of the State of Yap held three public hearings to discuss the Governor’s recommended budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (Gov. Comm. No. 11-340). The hearings took place at the Legislature Chamber and focused on different departments and areas of spending.

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Committee reviewed the budget for the Department of Public Works & Transportation (PW&T). Witnesses included the Director of PW&T and staff, the Chief of Budget from the Office of Planning & Budget (OPB), the Chief of Personnel from the Office of Administrative Services (OAS), the Chief of Procurement and staff, and representatives from RED.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the hearing focused on the Department of Resources & Development (R&D) department’s budget. The R&D Director and staff were present, along with officials from OPB, OAS, Procurement, and RED.

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the hearing covered the Scholarship Office's proposed budget. Witnesses included the Scholarship Coordinator from R&D, the Chief of Budget (OPB), the Chief of Personnel (OAS), and RED representatives.

The Committee will continue to review and discuss all parts of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget before making final decisions.
