On May 12, 2023, Maria Marfel was officially sworn in as the new Director of the Department of Health Services in a formal ceremony. The oath of office was administered by Associate Justice Jonathan Machieng and witnessed by Governor Charles Chieng, TH Lt. Governor Francis Itimai, Senator John Mafe Gilfiley, Giliko, Giltug, Chief of Staff Paul Ayin. TH Governor Charles Chieng expressed his confidence in the newly appointed director and highlighted the importance of the department’s role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the People of Yap. The Yap State Government congratulates Director Marfel’ and wishes all the best.
