Yap, FSM - On February 25, 2025, a special ceremony took place at Maap municipality to celebrate the official launch of the newly revived Traditional Navigation Society (TNS) canoe. The event was attended by the President of the Federated States of Micronesia, along with the First Lady and their staff. The TNS canoe was repaired and brought back to life by the many talented canoe builders from Maap Municipality for the official launching.

After the launching the canoe was moored in Dugor to participate in the second day of the Yap Day festivities.

The canoe then opened the 55th Yap Day Celebration as it approached the Yap Day site in Colonia, conch shell was blown and the canoe entered the lagoon towing two stone money symbolizing the official opening of the Yap Day Celebration and signifying the arrival of the long voyages from Palau.

During the Yap Day Celebration the TNS canoe took many visitors and locals on its deck for rides around the lagoon.
