Yap Legislature's Busy Session: Key Decisions and Appropriations in FocusFriday, July 5, 2024 // DYCA PIO

Yap, FSM – Last week, the 11th Legislature of the State of Yap commenced the 21st of its Second Regular Session with a packed agenda addressing crucial matters for the state. The session, which convened at 10:00 A.M., featured significant discussions and actions across various legislative fronts.


The session began with the pending adoption of journals from previous days' sessions, with particular focus on the 13th, 14th, and 15th Session Day journals of the Second Regular Session. The Standing committees by the Committee of Resources, Education, and Development submitted reports, including recommendations for the adoption of resolutions in its original form.


The session featured the presentation of bills for second reading with only 1 bill, Bill No. 11-84, D1: A BILL FOR AN ACT, To appropriate the sum of $948,561.98 from the Special Revenue Fund of the State of Yap for the purpose of appropriating U.S. Federal grant funds awarded for the Department of Education and Health Services program during Fiscal Year 2024, and other purposes. As well as two presentation of resolutions were adopted which are Resolution No. 11-65: A RESOLUTION, Confirming Steven Young-Uhk to serve as a member on the Board of Directors of the Yap Fishing Authority, and Resolution No. 11-68: A RESOLUTION, Confirming Damien Kenrow Pongilyab to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Yap Fishing Authority.
