Yap, FSM – Last week, the Yap State Election Office at the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs (DYCA) swore in 8 Election Officers to assist in the upcoming election this Friday, May 31st. The sworn-in occurred at the Historic Preservation Office(HPO) conference room and was administered by Election Commissioner Christopher Buchun and witnessed by DYCA Director Alex Gilfiley, Election Analyst Jovita Torwan, and Prudence Legalegram. The newly sworn-in officers are set to play vital roles in the election this Friday, May 31st. Among them are HPO Officer Jeffrey Marbey, Chief of Media Eijan Ruwetmag, Chief of Youth John Waayan Fillmed, Youth Sports Coordinator Constantine Gilbeengin, DYCA AO Patricia Gureb, PIO Jovanna Nabetam, Maria Mariyen, and Josh Fanapngag.
By incorporating experienced individuals from various sectors, the Yap State Election Office aims to address previous issues, such as voter registration errors and logistical bottlenecks, which have been concerns for the community both on the island and abroad.
